The Story of Rev. Riaz Shahid (Late) (1956 – 2018)
Rev. Riaz Shahid’s (Late) journey began in the 1980s when he moved from Punjab to Karachi, bringing with him a spirit of perseverance and a vision for the future. Starting out as a laborer, he worked diligently while pursuing his education at Karachi University, where he earned a Master’s degree in Political Science.
With little more than a box and a chair, he took the bold step of starting his own small business. Over time, his hard work and dedication paid off, allowing him to prebook a shop on an installment plan, which he eventually purchased. His younger brother, Bashir Anjum, soon joined him in managing the business.
As the years went by, a new market called Taj Paper Complex (TPC) began to develop. Seeing potential, Riaz Shahid (Late) saved diligently and purchased a shop there on an installment basis. In 1997, he entrusted his original business to his younger brother, Bashir Anjum, and, in 1998, ventured into a new line of work, inspired by his observations of the church’s need for quality printing services. The idea of starting a printing press was his own, yet it was Elder Poulos Shareef who suggested the name “Gospel Printing Press.” And so, Gospel Printing Press was born, dedicated to providing high-quality Christian literature and printing services.
Two years after Gospel Printing Press began, Riaz’s eldest son, Khurram Shahzad, joined him in the business. Later, his two other sons, Adeel Riaz and Sunil Riaz, also became involved, helping the business flourish and creating a legacy of quality and dedication.
Today, each of Riaz Shahid’s (Late) sons carries forward his vision through their own endeavors. Khurram Shahzad now leads Gospel Printing Press and also runs Gospel Automobiles, Adeel Riaz manages Gospel Box Services, and Sunil Riaz oversees Gospel Traders. Together, they honor their father’s legacy and commitment to excellence.
